LG Premier Pro LTE Review: Worth Buying in 2021?

Established in 1947, LG has made a lot of high-end smartphones that they continue to do till date. LG has a bunch of budget phones with great features and the Premier Pro LTE is definitely one of them. With the Premier Pro, LG intended to concentrate on functionality rather than aesthetics (although the aesthetics aren't so bad either).

In this LG Premier Pro LTE review, released in 2018, we have covered all of the prominent features of this phone and highlighted some unique qualities as well.

What's inside the LG Premier Pro LTE?

Two models of this smartphone were released with mostly the same specifications – L413DL and L414DL. One review can give you a picture of both phones. Both have an Android OS and both have the following key features in common:

Device Specifications:

5.85 x 2.96 x 0.34 in (149 x 75 x 8.6 mm)

0.37 lbs (168 g)

Screen resolution

720 x 1280 pixels

Screen size

5.3 in (135 mm) HD display

2 GB

16 GB (built-in), expandable to 2 TB

8 MP (main camera), 5 MP (front camera)

Battery capacity

2880 mAh Li ion

Fingerprint scanner

Rear-mounted fingerprint scanner

The LG UX 6.0 can be found in both models. The LG L413DL was released with Android Nougat 7.1, whereas the L414DL came with upgraded Android 8.1. They are both sold as carrier-locked Tracfone phones now. The LG Premier Pro LTE is a light and compact smartphone weighing just about 168g. It has a 2GB RAM and 1.4 GHz Snapdragon 425 quad core processor. The fingerprint scanner at the back is quite fast and detects prints accurately.

There is an 8 MP camera with autofocus, which clicks pictures very fast. The image quality is not extraordinary but there is 1080p HD video recording. The 720 x 1280 pixels resolution makes pictures look pretty good. The 5 MP front camera might not be great, but the gesture shots for selfies sure are convenient. These days, phones are used more for pictures and videos than anything else - so this is definitely an important feature. Unfortunately, the Premier Pro is not much of a 'pro' in this category.

LG Premier Pro LTE

It has a micro SD slot supporting up to 2TB disk space extension, which really should be put to use (that’s huge!). There is a 3.5 mm headphone jack (that many phones do not have now), FM radio, Wi-Fi connectivity and Bluetooth 4.2 as well.

This phone is not readily available in the market today. If you do find any, you will only find LG Premier LTE Tracfone. If you are already a Tracfone user, it will be much easier for you to switch to the LG Premier Pro. Since it is specified by a carrier, it is only available in specific locations. However, this LG phone is still available on Amazon! Surprised? Check it out for yourself:

What You Need to Know Before Buying The LG Premier Pro LTE

Many of the features of the LG Premier Pro LTE can commonly be found in its competitors. It has a strong metal casing that looks and feels good in the hand but can be a bit slippery. Nothing that a back cover can’t solve. The best word to describe this would be ‘affordable’. The RAM, processor, Android OS, and camera on this smartphone are all average. However, you get a lot for what you will have to pay for this phone.

Here are the pros and cons of the LG Premier Pro LTE Tracfone that must be included in this review:

  • Light and compact body
  • Expandable memory and dedicated slot for memory card
  • Quad core processor
  • Good battery life
  • Android OS version not too old

  • Low RAM - so not great for gaming or multi-tasking
  • Poor front camera quality
  • System upgrade to Android 8 will most likely not be available

Even though this LG smartphone is far from a flagship, there are some unique content and features in the Premier Pro LTE that should be brought to light:

Unique Features:

  • Video resolution: 1920 x 1080 pixels
  • You can take video screenshots
  • You can take selfie shots with facial recognition as well as gesture shots
  • You can leave the phone almost 10 days on standby

Alternatives to the LG Premier Pro LTE You Might Want To Look At

Since this phone was released two years ago, the price has significantly decreased. In a similar price range, there are other brands with good phones that you can check out – Motorola, Nokia or even Samsung. We recommend Motorola.

Motorola E5 Play

This is not a full review of the Moto E5, but just some things you might like to know. This phone was also released in 2018 and currently available on Amazon. This one also runs on Android OS and has a quad core processor like the LG Premier Pro LTE Tracfone. With only a few differences, this smartphone can be a great alternative in the same price range:

  • RAM: 1GB
  • Battery capacity: 2800 mAh Li ion
  • Screen size: 5.3 in (135 mm)
  • Rear-mounted fingerprint scanner

In conclusion

If I had to give an honest opinion, this smartphone was not LG’s best. LG did manufacture some great phones like the Nexus 5X and 6P that were loved by Android users around the world. Even with the gesture controls, the LG Premier Pro LTE Tracfone does not really stand out in the crowd. Given the low price range, this may be justifiable. But at the end of the day, you can always trust LG to use quality material. If the network packages by Tracfone grab your attention, you've got a bonus. So you definitely get good value in this smartphone. Also, with all the information from this review, you can now judge for yourself!
