Now that we’ve looked at the key specifications and a quick intro let’s get into a detailed huawei ascend xt2 16gb review.
The device only weighs 164.9g (5.82oz) including the power pack which is quite common when compared with devices of similar size. The size itself is quite average and dimensions are about 6.04 x 3x 0.33” (153.4 x 76.2 x 8.4mm) when rounded off.
Usually, a smartphone screen size is gauged from one corner to the other. The xt2 measures around 5.5” and comes with an IPS multi-touch display that has a 720p x 1280p resolution.
The physical specifications of this phone are quite average and is a given at this price range.
Android Nougat which is the default OS isn’t too bad either and was released in 2016, just a year before the ascent xt2 was released. However, the phone can be upgraded to a higher operating system. The phone uses a Snapdragon 435 chipset which is quite outdated given that Snapdragon is currently in its 8xx series.
The RAM of 2GB is pretty standard for a budget phone and the 16GB is quite disappointing not when compared to the price but the current standard.
The storage can be expanded using a microSD chip.
Most phones nowadays have a non-removable power pack unlike in the early years where when your phone doesn’t respond you just remove the battery and voila! The phone packs 4000mAH and has a good backup. The Li-Po(Lithium Polymer) is quite slim, light, and is rechargeable.
In terms of connectivity, the device supports your usual 2G,3G, and 4G bands. It also supports Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.1.The phone ships with all the standard sensors you would find in a smartphone today from an accelerometer to the proximity sensor.
For those who don’t know, the accelerometer is responsible for measuring the titling and positioning of the device while the proximity sensor is self-explanatory (detects the proximity of the phone to other things in the external environment).
To conclude, Huawei first moved into the market as a budget phone manufacturer and has now moved up the ladder to compete with the big brands in the market. But with the Ascend xt2 they are staying true to their roots and giving the best it can for this price value.
That being said, the best offered in this phone is below current standard, but you get what you pay for.
